“I’m well past the point of representational art telling me what I see, I want to feel something.”

“My work doesn’t come from the hand, I leave technique to the realistic painters, I am a purveyor of open-ended stories, emotional curiosities & out of context visual delights. My work comes from the imagination where anything is possible and all things are considered.”

ENCAUSTIC WORK incorporates hand tinted Bees wax with embedded materials; amber, antique metals, metallic and other unique objects. It can also be carved & manipulated into dimensional layers. Encaustic work is perhaps my favorite because of its ability to be sculptural.

GLASS is an elegant art form I developed in Gloucester using recycled glass cuttings from other artists. These beautiful pieces, combined with mixed media, create sculptural 2D wall art which appear soft and translucent or hard as wood - constantly blurring the lines of what glass can be….

LEAFING W/ COLD WAX is a process I developed exploring a favorite art supply house. I found the metallic leafing, then the cold wax and a concept started to form in my mind- The first piece, the prototype, took forever- adding, drying, pealing - reapplying… it now has a forever home - lots in this series hang in homes from Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod to Florida … love the shine, texture and dimension the opposing mediums create.

MIXED MEDIA is a combination of unique techniques and mediums creating dimensional work on varied surfaces. My process can include anything that captures my imagination - I fancy industrial, rusted objects from prior lives and hard times. I tend to collect broken things, they add history to my work.

BOATS - I am well known for the singular boat - with its haunting loneliness, suspended in expressionistic, surreal negative space.

T

he singular boat concept formed organically watching the empty boats from my studio by the sea.

T

here they waited through the foggy mornings, the relentless sun and the stunning sunsets.

The stillness of Smiths cove; the reflection of the boat, the buoy, the mast.

It whispered of serenity, solitude, isolation and turmoil. I took those emotions back into my studio and translated the feelings onto canvas.”

I especially enjoy Commission Art. Clients come into my gallery wanting a different size or combinations of colors in a piece. I love the collaborative exchange and find the end result of placing the perfect piece in its perfect setting extremely satisfying.

"

My art is my fingerprint- it is who I am, what I perceive beautiful, powerful and important.
